Lilly Singh is set to be honoured at The Hollywood Reporter’s Women in Entertainment Canada gala and summit that is taking place at The Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Toronto on Thursday, May 28, 2026. The Canadian actress and producer will receive the Equity in Entertainment Award, a tribute that recognizes Canadians whose success opens the way for industry change and access for members of underrepresented communities.

Born and raised in Scarborough, Ontario, Singh first built her empire on YouTube under the handle “Superwoman,” pulling billions of views with sketches that blended Bollywood references, Toronto energy and deadpan takes on everything from strict parents to dating disasters. She eventually made the leap from digital fame to mainstream entertainment, becoming the first openly bisexual woman of colour to host a major American late-night network show with A Little Late with Lilly Singh. Beyond comedy, Singh has evolved into a full-on multi-hyphenate — actor, producer, author, entrepreneur and outspoken advocate for South Asian representation in media — while still carrying the same self-aware, internet-native humour that made her famous in the first place. Most recently Singh was announced as a part owner of Toronto's new WNBA team Toronto Tempo.

The upcoming third annual Women in Entertainment Canada summit will again bring together the Canadian industry across TV, film and music to celebrate and recognize the achievements of women leading the industry forward. The all-day event is attended by top homegrown producers, actors, musicians and execs.

Previously announced honourees include Andrea Martin who will receive the ICON Award; Malin Akerman who will receive the Impact Award to be presented by The Hunting Wives co-star, Brittany Snow; Rachel Reid who will participate in a main stage feature interview and receive the Changemaker Award; and North of North co-creators Alethea Arnaquq-Baril and Stacey Aglok MacDonald who will receive the Breakthrough Award at the May 28 event.
