Director Ryan Coogler, who breathed new life into the Rocky franchise last year with the release of Creed, saw his movie get mostly overlooked by the Academy Awards, but that doesn't mean he'll be sitting idle during tonight's Oscars fanfare.

Coogler, along with Selma director Ava DuVernay, is hosting a sold-out #JUSTICEFORFLINT benefit in Flint, Michigan to raise money, boost awareness and give the victims of the ongoing Flint water crisis a "night of entertainment, unity, and emotional healing," as Coogler put it when he announced his plans last week.

The event will be hosted by comedian Hannibal Buress, with a huge lineup of stars set to appear. Musical performances will include Janelle Monae, Robert Glasper, Musiq Soulchild, Royce da 5'9, Vic Mensa, Denaun Porter, Jon Connor and Ledisi. Also expected to appear are actors Jussie Smollett, Jesse Williams, and EBONY senior editor Jamilah Lemieux, according to MLive.

As we wrote earlier last week, "local residents will be invited to share their stories of relentless struggle with the worldwide audience, a struggle apparently deemed inconsequential by regional government for nearly two years without proper action being taken."

REVOLT will be livestreaming the whole event starting at 5 p.m. EST, with a live chat and donations accepted via text. You can check out the live stream right here.
