A 13-year-old boy was charged with second degree assault this week near Baltimore for walking up to a 14-year-old girl and kissing her on a dare, according to Fox 10 TV in Marlyand.

The incident, which happened at the teens' middle school, has some people saying that the criminal charge was too severe a punishment for the unwanted kiss.

“I would let the parents get together and discuss it, you know, rather than getting the police involved. Let the school handle it first and then if the parents want to press charges, then there’s nothing else that can be done," one local told the station.

The Baltimore Sun described the situation from a police report, which definitely makes it sound worse.

The boy was charged as a juvenile. It's unclear what type of sentence he could be facing.
