Bill Murray stays turning up in unexpected places, but his cameo as a meth-cooking roommate in Dumber and Dumber To isn't really all that surprising, since Murray's already friends with the Farrelly brothers after working on their '96 masterpiece Kingpin (yeah, I said masterpiece).
It turns out that the Farrellys, like everyone else, just wanted to hang with Murray for a little while. Here's what Peter Farrelly told New York magazine:

"Since you never see Icepick, we were thinking, Hey, we should get someone who's iconic to do it. And who's more iconic than Bill Murray? And Bill's a very good friend. Any time you have Bill Murray on the set, everybody on the crew is happy. So, we wanted to bring Bill in just so we could hang around him. Like everyone else in the world, I'm nuts about that guy."
