Presidential candidate, former neurosurgeon, Facebook expert and certified crazy Republican Ben Carson doesn't think that a Muslim should be president of the United States, based solely on such a hypothetical candidate being a Muslim.

In an interview Sunday on NBC's Meet the Press Carson, an outspokenly devout Christian, said he wouldn't support a Muslim candidate when Chuck Todd asked him if a president's faith should even matter.

Basically, to Carson, it seems it doesn't matter, as long as that faith is Christian. So yeah, it matters.

“I would not advocate that we put a Muslim in charge of this nation. I absolutely would not agree with that,” Carson said, saying he believes that the religion of Islam is incompatible with the United States constitution and the "values and principles of America."

Here's the segment from NBC:

The whole reason the topic came up was because of what Donald Trump said, or more accurately, didn't say, when someone at a town hall last week asked him a question and called Barack Obama a Muslim.

It may not matter much what Carson thinks anyway. According to a new poll cited by CNN, Carson has dropped to third place behind No. 2 Carly Fiorina after this past week's GOP debate. Trump is still the frontrunner by far.
