Giving you the chance to catch them all.
With such a lofty life goal, everyone could find something to aspire to. You may not be able to do this very easily in the games without trading, spending all kinds of cash, and buying each new version, but in real life you'd just need to be diligent. And think of the adventures you'd have along the way.
Providing alternate forms of travel.
Forget flying in an airplane. You could hop on a Pidgeot to take you to the next city over. And what of dangerous cars? Just ride on an Arcanine to work. No wasting gas, it's quicker, and more efficient. We can't say companies wouldn't charge an arm and a leg for a privilege, but your travel options would suddenly expand exponentially.
Solving the world's health crisis.
With so many varying biochemical makeups, Pokemon could play host to cures for some of the deadliest diseases out there. We may never have to see another loved one die with research and that of Pokemon genes. Of course, we'd have to be mindful of the monsters themselves, but with so many different types, classifications, and structures, there's got to be something out there to combat the vicious ailments we have floating around in the world.
A much better understanding of interspecies relationships.
It's difficult to understand how some animals interact with humans and the meaning behind their actions. Pokemon seem to be able to better communicate these things, so being able to interface with them may be the key to so many ideas we've been trying to unlock over the years.
They'd cure boredom, no problem.
With hundreds of Pokemon to collect, study, and befriend, how could anyone ever be bored again? Not only are they fascinating creatures, but many can be kept as pets, companions, and even protectors. Their mythology, moves, evolutions, and even undiscovered ancestors make for great entertainment in our fictional world, so imagine that about tenfold if the creatures actually existed.
Making world peace a reality.
With a creature like Mewtwo or Entei (or one of the various legendary Pokemon) on the prowl, countries may as well start getting along or face the consequences. Equal defense forces, resources, and Pokemon would ensure humans get along swimmingly, despite the explosive power being tossed around on a day to day basis. And who's going to be violent around tons of cuddly Meowths? Not us.
Putting an end to global warming.
With Pokemon around to help keep the environment in check, dangers like global warming dissipate into thin air. Pokemon can be counted on to help out with these imminent issues, either by using their own unique powers or aiding humans in finding a way to resolve their own dilemmas. Hey, we never said we were a species that didn't need help.
We know education reform isn't going to get passed in Congress.
Learning about Pokemon and their ancestry, as well as the mysteries surrounding them, would be a brand new pursuit for humankind. Just as you're filling your Pokedex in the game, Pokemon sharing our world with us would be a fantastic reason to research. Perhaps youths would find school more tolerable. The public may be more inclined to educate themselves. Who wouldn't want to learn more if it meant being able to catch electric mice and purple cats?
They could help out with this joke of an economy.
A weakened economy calls for new ideas to get the world back on its feet. Pokemon breeding, tournament sales, attractions, and other Pokemon-friendly businesses would crop up everywhere, just like the games themselves. Grooming competitions, gym leaders, you name it. All of this would create a need for jobs and would generate revenue, kickstarting the global economy.
Putting an end to the looming energy crisis.
Many Pokemon themselves are elemental creatures, with the power of earth, wind, water, fire, etc.
Harnessing the power of these creatures would put an end to some of the nonrenewable resources we currently draw from. Pokemon need to survive in the same world we do, so some things they're already doing in the environment means their cooperation wouldn't be so far outside the box that it wouldn't make sense.
Putting an end to world hunger.
With closely-monitored guidelines, and strict regulations, there would have to be greater restrictions on food sources than we have in place now. Pokemon could be instrumental in ending world hunger.
Aside from the Pokemon that could be cooked and eaten, they're able to create some sustenance, like milk and other items. Failing that, you could always employ said Pokemon to help toil in lesser countries to cultivate food for the country.
Giving us better things to talk about than the royal baby.
No one cares about the news related to the birth of the Royal baby.
Save from those directly affected, or, the paparazzi. At least, that's how things would be in a perfect world. We'd have so much more to talk and think about. Well, we already do. Actually, this list item is starting to get fairly depressing. Let's move onto the next.
