If you slept on ComplexLand last year, you won’t want to miss out this time around.

Next week, Complex returns with the third edition of its signature metaverse event. From Wednesday, May 25, through Friday, May 27, the most important names in streetwear, sneakers, and art will converge at ComplexLand 3.0 for a series of drops and events. This month also happens to mark 20 years of Complex, which means our biggest virtual event yet will feature a retrospective covering two decades’ worth of history.

So how do you get started in ComplexLand? And what should you look out for as it unfolds? Here’s everything you need to know—including shops, drops, and new features—about ComplexLand 3.0.

ComplexLand takes place from May 25 to May 27, 2022. For more info and access, sign up at complexland.com.

Creating and customizing your avatar

When you arrive in ComplexLand, you’ll want to deck out your avatar. You’ll be able to outfit yourself in a series of special collections created for ComplexLand 3.0. These include items from Kerwin Frost and Adidas, Vandy the Pink, WJW, and Studio Hagel—among many others. Want pink hair? Go for it. You can even change the glowing aura that serves as a spectral enhancement of your character’s skin to reflect your mood. By clicking on your avatar, you can also tweak your outfit and use emotes to broadcast your mood. This year, you’ll have the option of linking to your IG account to show off your true self. And don’t forget: As you explore the landscape, you’ll be able to customize your avatar further by collecting coins to use on special items.

20 Years of Complex Pop-Up

As we mentioned above, ComplexLand 3.0 will celebrate 20 years of Complex. The corresponding pop-up is a first-person virtual experience at the heart of the event, inviting visitors to go behind the scenes of iconic Complex covers and shop an exclusive collection from Nigo—available only here—marking two decades.

Complex is diving deeper into Web3, with our partners debuting, dropping, and even giving away all kinds of exclusive NFTs. Plus, if you’re holding NFTs from brands like BBC, Diamond Supply Co., Food Fighters, or Weather Report, you’ll have a few other exciting opportunities during the event. Also on the slate: an NFT drop of ComplexCon 3.0 VIP tickets.

Beyond NFT releases, ComplexLand 3.0 is offering POAPs. For the uninitiated, a POAP (or proof of attendance protocol) is a way of broadcasting to others that you really did show up for an event. This means bragging rights for the week.

Lil Miquela’s NFT Gallery

This year, Lil Miquela—who, alongside Kerwin Frost, is hosting ComplexLand—will serve as the metaverse art curator of the NFT Gallery. Miquela has invited some of her favorite artists to display their work, including Shantell Martin, Jordan Buckley, Graceland, Naturel, Marly McFly, and Chuck Styles, who will be dropping exclusive NFTs each day of the event.

The shops and exclusive deals are among the biggest reasons to come to ComplexLand, and this year is no exception. Brands like Atmos, Topps, BBC, and Superplastic (debuting a new character, SHU DOG) are releasing exclusive items at ComplexLand 3.0. Plus, brands that are new to ComplexLand—including No Vacancy Inn, Market, Emotionally Unavailable, Playboy, By Sami Ryan, Foot Patrol, and Round Two—will be releasing exclusive product, too.

And we didn’t forget about the kids—peep the We Are Little Giants shop for gear for the youngest heads. Vandy the Pink, meanwhile, is dropping its burger shoe in kids’ sizes.

Drops

Another reason to check into ComplexLand each day is to find exclusive drops and other surprises. Many of these releases happen in playground zones that otherwise serve as spots to connect with other users. For the first time ever, our most coveted drop of the year will occur on Day 1 of ComplexLand—the always-limited ComplexCon VIP ticket.

Make sure to explore the entire map to get the most out of ComplexLand. You’ll also receive notifications during the day that will point you to a specific drop zone—although you’re just as likely to see a queue forming as you explore on foot. You may even be able to snag something as part of a giveaway, so your navigational skills will definitely be rewarded as you check out each spot.

One of the pillars of ComplexLand (and ComplexCon) is returning to the metaverse this month. Brands to Watch, an initiative spotlighting brands and designers on the come-up, will feature The Crate NY, Brigade, True to Us, and ALL CAPS STUDIO. Show some love and buy some gear—these labels are about to make a lot of noise.

The Leaderboard

A fan-favorite feature that debuted at ComplexLand 2.0 is back. The Leaderboard is another element that gamifies your journey through ComplexLand. Coin spawns add to your point totals, entering you into daily prize drawings for the top three users, as well as giving you the chance to upgrade your avatar. Along with exclusive physical items, this year’s grand prize will boast 1 ETH.

(This feature and prize will only be available to residents of the United States).

ComplexLand takes place from May 25 to May 27. For more info and access, sign up at complexland.com.
