James Gunn has found a pair of leads for DC Studios' inaugural film Superman: Legacy.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Gunn and his co-DC Studios boss Peter Safran have enlisted David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan for the roles of Clark Kent and Lois Lane, respectively.

Superman: Legacy, the first film fully produced under Gunn and Safran’s tenure, will hit theaters July 11, 2025, and is expected to feature iconic characters such as Lex Luthor and the superheroes The Authority.

The news arrives three months after Gunn, who will direct the new Superman installment, shared that he was also writing the script.

Back in December 2022, Warner Bros. announced that DC Studios, a newly formed division that will replace DC Films, would be helmed by Gunn and Safran. The pair will co-head the film, TV, and animation efforts for the company, which is home to superheroes such as Batman, Wonder Woman, and Superman.

Shortly after his hiring, Gunn reassured Superman fans that the superhero would be "a huge priority, if not the biggest priority," during a Q&A on Twitter.
