Zohran Mamdani may have just delivered the biggest clue yet about where Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce plan to tie the knot.
Speaking during a recent press conference about New York City's preparations for a packed summer of major events, the mayor appeared to casually confirm that the superstar couple's wedding will indeed take place in the city. While discussing the overlap among the FIFA World Cup, the Knicks' postseason run, and America's 250th birthday celebrations, he added another event to the calendar.
“We are used to big events, and we are incredibly excited for [the FIFA World Cup],” Mamdani said, per Realtor.com. “We know it coincides with the Knicks’ Finals run. We know it coincides with July 4, America 250, Taylor Swift’s wedding—all happening at the same time—and we are so excited to welcome the world here.”
The remark immediately fueled fresh speculation surrounding the couple's plans, particularly reports that have linked the wedding to Manhattan and, more specifically, Madison Square Garden. Previous reports claimed the ceremony would take place on July 3 and that the iconic arena was among the venues being considered. Neither Swift nor Kelce has publicly confirmed the location.
Mamdani later acknowledged that, despite his enthusiasm, he would not be attending the festivities. Asked whether he had secured an invitation, the mayor joked that he had not, while wishing the couple well ahead of what he described as a “lovely wedding.”
Earlier this year, Rhode Island appeared to be the leading candidate, with reports connecting the ceremony to Swift's estate in Westerly and the nearby Ocean House. Rumors even circulated that the pair had attempted to secure June 13 wedding dates at local venues, though those claims were later disputed.
By the spring, attention had shifted to New York. Reports surfaced that save-the-dates had gone out for a July 3 ceremony, while additional accounts suggested Swift had been personally reaching out to guests with logistical details. Even New York officials appeared to hint that a major celebrity event requiring heightened security could be on the city's summer schedule.
The timing would align with Kelce's football calendar. Earlier this year, the Chiefs star committed to returning for another season after months of retirement speculation, and ESPN's Nate Taylor reported that the wedding would take place before training camp begins later in July.
