Ving Rhames is recovering after a sudden health scare that sent him to a Los Angeles-area hospital this week. The veteran actor collapsed while dining at a restaurant in North Hollywood on Wednesday afternoon, April 29, prompting an emergency response and brief hospitalization.

According to Variety, the 66-year-old was at the trendy Granville restaurant in Los Angeles when the incident occurred. He was transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation, where he was checked out and later released.

His manager, Brad Kramer, confirmed that Rhames is already on the mend and heading home, describing him as sounding “like everyday Ving” during a follow-up call.

Despite the scare, those close to the actor say his condition quickly stabilized. Kramer noted that Rhames was not only alert after the incident but even joked during their conversation.

Rhames has long been a staple in Hollywood, known for commanding roles across film and television. He’s the only actor besides Tom Cruise to appear in all eight installments of the Mission: Impossible franchise, where he plays tech expert Luther Stickell.

In a recent interview, Rhames shared insight into his long-standing collaboration with Cruise, saying his favorite moments were “talking to him off-stage” and learning industry lessons from him.

His résumé also includes standout performances in Pulp Fiction and a wide range of action and drama projects spanning decades.

The incident comes during an active stretch in Rhames’ career. In 2025, he appeared in the boxing film Uppercut and the series The Dope Thief, while also returning to the Mission: Impossible saga for its latest installment.

He’s also been hosting the History Channel’s History’s Deadliest with Ving Rhames, where he explores major natural disasters.

Looking ahead, Rhames has multiple projects in the pipeline, including The Mongoose alongside Liam Neeson and Marisa Tomei, and Painter with Walton Goggins.
