Todd Bridges is officially entering a new chapter.
The actor, best known for his role on Diff’rent Strokes, confirmed that he and his wife, Bettijo B. Hirschi, have decided to divorce after three years of marriage. The news was first reported by People and later confirmed by Bridges in a personal statement.
In his message, Bridges emphasized that the decision did not come lightly. “After much prayer and reflection, my spouse and I have made the difficult decision to separate,” he said.
While acknowledging the weight of the situation, he expressed gratitude for the relationship they shared and the time they spent building a life together.
“This was not an easy choice, and it comes with a heavy heart, but also with love and gratitude for the life we shared,” Bridges added.
He also framed the separation as part of a broader personal journey, noting that he and Hirschi are being guided toward “healing, peace, and new beginnings.”
The couple’s relationship began in an unconventional way. According to Hirschi, the two were introduced in January 2022, when a friend created a dating profile for her and showed it to Bridges, whom she jokingly referred to as “market research.”
What started as a casual interaction quickly evolved into something more serious.
Within six months of meeting, Bridges proposed. Not long after, the pair exchanged vows in an intimate wedding ceremony in September 2022, less than a year after they first connected.
Their fast-moving romance became part of a broader period of change and stability for Bridges, who has been open in recent years about his sobriety and personal growth.
In his statement, Bridges also asked for privacy as both parties adjust to the transition. “I ask for privacy as we navigate this transition and continue to lift my former partner up in prayer, wishing them joy and fulfillment in the chapters ahead,” he said.
This marked Bridges’ second marriage. He was previously married to Dori from 1998 to 2012. The former couple share two adult children, son Spencir, 28, and daughter Bo, 29. Hirschi also has four children from before her marriage to Bridges.
