Teyana Taylor’s night at the 2026 Golden Globes ended with a milestone moment—and a message she made sure reached far beyond the Beverly Hilton ballroom.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the multi-hyphenate artist won Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for her performance as Perfidia Beverly Hills in One Battle After Another, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson.

The win marked Taylor’s first-ever Golden Globe nomination and her first victory, kicking off the ceremony as the evening’s earliest award.

When her name was announced, Taylor was visibly emotional as she made her way to the stage. Before addressing the room, she took a moment to acknowledge her daughters, who were watching from elsewhere in the hotel. “Y’all better be off them damn phones and watching me right now,” she joked, drawing laughter from the crowd.

Taylor also used her speech to thank Anderson, praising his trust in her as an actor. “Thank you for your vision, your trust and your brilliance,” she said, adding that her gratitude to the filmmaker was “endless.”

The collaboration marked a major step in Taylor’s acting career, placing her alongside a competitive field of nominees that included Emily Blunt, Ariana Grande, Elle Fanning, Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas, and Amy Madigan.

But the most talked-about moment of her speech came near the end, when Taylor shifted her focus outward—speaking directly to Black and Brown women and girls watching the show.

“To my brown sisters and little brown girls watching tonight,” she said, “our softness is not a liability. Our depth is not too much. Our light does not need permission to shine. We belong in every room we walk into. Our voices matter, and our dreams deserve space.”

Taylor’s win adds another accolade to a career spanning music, fashion, choreography, and film. For her, the Golden Globe wasn’t just a trophy—it was a platform. And she made it clear she intended to use it.
