A third domestic violence investigation has been opened against Taylor Frankie Paul, adding a new layer of legal scrutiny to the controversy that has already halted her season of The Bachelorette and disrupted multiple television projects tied to her name.
According to NBC News, authorities in West Jordan, Utah, confirmed they are reviewing allegations tied to a previously unreported 2024 incident involving Paul and her ex-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen. Officials claim Mortensen contacted police last month, prompting an investigation now focused on piecing together timelines and evidence, including multiple videos linked to the alleged event.
Police say they currently have only Mortensen’s account and are seeking further cooperation, including a statement or interview from Paul.
The development comes amid mounting legal pressure. The Salt Lake County District Attorney’s office confirmed it has requested investigative materials to determine whether charges are warranted.
In a statement, District Attorney Sam Gill said the case is being reviewed in part because “if charges are filed, they could be enhanced due to a prior plea in abeyance to a domestic violence offense,” referencing Paul’s earlier legal history.
The current investigation follows a series of prior incidents that have shaped the ongoing fallout. In 2023, Paul was arrested after an altercation with Mortensen and later entered a plea related to aggravated assault, with additional charges dismissed.
Paul’s representatives have previously stated that she is focused on protecting her family and addressing the allegations. “After years of silently suffering extensive mental and physical abuse… Taylor is finally gaining the strength to face her accuser,” a spokesperson said in an earlier statement.
Paul herself has publicly responded, saying, “I will have my truth.”
