Two of the most recognizable names in pop culture are finally crossing paths.

According to USA Today, Lego and Pokémon have officially teamed up for a limited collection of Lego Pokémon sets, timed to celebrate Pokémon’s 30th anniversary.

The new releases are now available for pre-order and are scheduled to ship on Friday, February 27—the same date Pokémon first launched in Japan in 1996.

The collaboration marks the first time Pokémon characters have been officially recreated as Lego builds, a milestone that’s already generating heavy buzz among longtime fans, collectors, and casual builders alike.

The initial wave of sets pulls from Pokémon’s most iconic lineup. Builders can expect Lego versions of Pikachu and a Poké Ball, along with fan-favorite characters like Eevee.

Several fully evolved starters from the original generation are also included, with Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise getting the brick-built treatment. Each set is designed to serve as both a display piece and a hands-on build.

Pokémon first debuted in Japan on February 27, 1996, and has since grown into one of the most successful entertainment franchises in history, spanning video games, trading cards, animation, movies, and merchandise.

Lego’s cultural reach runs just as deep, especially among adult fans who treat large-scale builds as serious collectibles rather than simple toys, though this is the first time the two worlds will officially collide.

For those who love the Japanese card trading game but don't have the patience for a large-scale build, Pokémon’s 30th anniversary celebration is expected to include events, product launches, and special releases throughout the year. The Lego partnership is one of the earliest announcements tied to the milestone, though it certainly will not be the last.

The Lego Pokémon sets are currently available for pre-order and will be sold directly through Lego's official website upon release.
