A GoFundMe campaign launched on behalf of Mickey Rourke picked up serious momentum almost overnight, pulling in more than $70,000 within its first 24 hours as supporters rallied around the veteran actor during a housing dispute.

People reports that the fundraiser, titled Help Mickey Rourke Stay in His Home, went live on Sunday, January 4, with a $100,000 goal. Early traction was modest, raising roughly $1,500 in its first several hours.

By the following day, however, donations surged, pushing the total past the $70,000 mark and turning the campaign into a viral moment of fan support.

The GoFundMe was created after Rourke, 73, was reportedly served with a notice in mid-December demanding payment of more than $59,000 in alleged back rent or the surrender of the property.

Court filings dated December 29 indicate that the notice required payment within three days. The property in question is a three-bedroom home measuring approximately 1,600 square feet.

According to the fundraiser description, the goal is to provide short-term stability while Rourke addresses mounting financial and legal pressures.

“The goal is simple: to give Mickey stability and peace of mind during an extremely stressful time — so he can stay in his home and have the space to get back on his feet,” the page states.

It also clarifies that the campaign was launched with Rourke’s consent to address “immediate housing-related expenses.”

Liya-Joelle Jones, identified as a friend and member of Rourke’s management team, confirmed the campaign’s intent in a statement.

“Mickey is going through a very difficult time right now, and it’s been incredibly touching to see how many people care about him and want to help,” she said.

Court documents indicate that Rourke signed the lease in March 2025 at a monthly rate of $5,200, which was later increased to $7,000. The landlord is also seeking attorney fees and termination of the rental agreement, according to the filing.

The housing dispute unfolded amid other professional challenges for Rourke. He began renting the home shortly before pursuing legal action related to his controversial exit from Celebrity Big Brother UK in April 2025. At the time, his management alleged the show failed to meet its contractual payment obligations.

As of this writing, representatives for both Rourke and the landlord have not made any public comments about this latest development.
