Brooke Shields is finally addressing the new Michael biopic—but not with the kind of insight fans might expect about Michael Jackson.
Caught outside Craig’s in West Hollywood by TMZ earlier this week, Shields was asked whether she had already seen the highly anticipated film about the King of Pop. Her answer was short and definitive: “I have not.”
The moment didn’t go much further—before she could elaborate, a fan jumped in for a photo, which she happily took, joking, “That’s the teeniest, teeniest camera,” before moving along.
Even with the brief response, Shields’ connection to Jackson makes her perspective notable. The two grew close in the early 1980s, forming a bond rooted in their shared experience of growing up in the spotlight. They frequently attended events together and remained part of each other’s lives for decades.
Shields has consistently described their relationship as deeply personal but not romantic, emphasizing that it was built on mutual understanding rather than public perception.
In a 2009 interview with Rolling Stone, Shields offered rare insight into that dynamic, recalling how Jackson once proposed marriage more than once. “I would say, ‘You have me for the rest of your life, you don’t need to marry me,’” she said at the time, adding that the reassurance helped ease his fear of losing people close to him.
She also described their bond as a space where they “didn’t have to deal with our sexuality,” framing it as an escape from the pressures that surrounded them as global stars.
Shields had also previously called Jackson someone she “loved deeply” and felt protective of.
