Nick Cannon’s family tree has grown into a full-on forest since his split from Mariah Carey—and now, their daughter Monroe is stepping in to set the record straight.
Cannon, 45, has a total of 12 children. His oldest two are 14-year-old twins, Monroe and Moroccan, whom he welcomed with Mariah Carey in 2011, after the pair married in a private ceremony in the Bahamas in 2008.
Following their 2014 separation and 2016 divorce, Cannon’s family expanded quickly—and across multiple households.
He is father to sons Golden Sagon and Rise Messiah, and daughter Powerful Queen with Brittany Bell; twins Zion Mixolydian and Zillion Heir and daughter Beautiful Zeppelin with Abby De La Rosa; son Legendary Love with Bre Tiesi; and daughter Onyx Ice Cole with LaNisha Cole. Cannon also shares two children with Alyssa Scott: daughter Halo Marie and son Zen, who died at five months old in 2021 after being diagnosed with brain cancer.
With that many names swirling, it’s no surprise that fans occasionally lose track of how Cannon’s blended family connects—and Monroe decided to address that directly.
In a rare Instagram Stories post shared on Thursday, November 13, the teen clarified exactly who she considers her immediate sibling, per People. “clearing something up guys,” she wrote. “i only have ONE brother who is @moroccan.cannon. i do have other half siblings from my dad but they are all many many years younger than me!”
It was a simple message, but one that cut through months of assumptions about how the 14-year-old sees her extended family.
For her part, the “All I Want for Christmas Is You” singer, 56, has kept her twins’ lives relatively private, and Monroe rarely comments publicly on her father’s other children.
Cannon, on the other hand, has often spoken about his bond with Monroe, calling her a grounding force during some of the most challenging moments of his life, including the loss of his son, Zen. “My daughter, really, she’s so in tune and in line and wise beyond her years,” he previously said. “She keeps me in check… she’s my oldest child.”
