Lizzo Turned Jury Duty Into a Designer ‘Fit Check’

From Chanel pearls to Saint Laurent, Lizzo’s courthouse ‘fit check’ turned jury duty into a viral fashion moment — and a glimpse at her new era.

Lizzo turned an ordinary day of civic duty into her latest fashion moment. On Wednesday, April 1, the singer shared a series of Instagram videos and photos documenting her trip to jury duty, complete with a head-to-toe designer look and a courthouse photo shoot that quickly lit up social media.

According to People, Lizzo gave followers a full breakdown of what she called her “jury duty fit check” while standing in what appeared to be a courthouse bathroom. The all-black outfit included a structured trench coat, tailored pants, and a layered pearl necklace. “The jacket is Saint Laurent, the top is Yitty, the pants are custom Sami Miro, the necklace is Chanel, and the shoes are Louis Vuitton,” she said in the clip.

The singer later stepped outside the courthouse in oversized sunglasses and a small black handbag, posing on the steps as if she were headed to a movie premiere rather than jury selection. Fans immediately leaned into the contrast. One commenter joked, “Imagine walking into court and Lizzo is giving you 15 to life,” while another wrote that the idea of a celebrity reporting for jury duty was “so funny.”

The courthouse appearance is the latest example of Lizzo leaning into a more playful, confident public image after several months of unusually candid interviews and essays.

In recent weeks, she has spoken openly about everything from body image to relationships, including a widely discussed appearance on the Friends Keep Secrets podcast, where she revealed that she remained a virgin until after winning her first Grammy in 2020.

“I promised myself when I was younger that I wouldn’t have sex until I won a Grammy,” Lizzo said during that interview with Benny Blanco and Lil Dicky. She explained that she kept the promise she made to herself as a teenager, eventually losing her virginity shortly after her breakthrough Grammy win.

That revelation followed another personal conversation earlier this month on Monica Lewinsky’s podcast, where Lizzo reflected on growing up under harsh beauty standards and said she was “deeply offended” by the way women’s bodies were discussed in the late ’90s and early 2000s.

Those comments echoed themes from her recent essay about weight loss and the “Ozempic boom,” in which she argued that plus-sized women are increasingly being pushed out of fashion and media spaces.
