For all of Landman's record-breaking ratings, viral moments, and awards-season buzz, one thing had been missing: an actual trophy. That's no longer the case.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the Academy of Country Music has announced that Landman will receive the ACM Film Award at the 19th ACM Honors in Nashville this August, giving Taylor Sheridan's West Texas oil drama its first major industry win just as Season 3 prepares to head into production.
The award recognizes television and film projects that make country music a central part of their storytelling, placing Landman alongside previous recipients such as Nashville, Twisters, and Country Strong. And unlike many TV soundtracks assembled after the fact, Landman's music was created by people already living inside the story.
Series star Billy Bob Thornton and castmate Mark Collie were writing songs inspired by the world they were filming. The duo ultimately co-wrote or composed five tracks that appeared on Landman – Songs from and Inspired by the Paramount+ Original Series (Volume I), including recordings by Billy Gibbons, Parker McCollum, Ronnie Dunn, Dwight Yoakam, and Flatland Cavalry.
Looking back, Thornton practically predicted this moment.
"We wrote a couple of songs that were kind of inspired by the area, that business world," he said while Season 1 was still in production. "We'll see if they end up on anything."
They ended up becoming part of the show's musical backbone—and now, part of the reason Landman is taking home ACM hardware.
The award arrives after months of growing momentum for Sheridan's hit. The series has already earned recognition at the Golden Globes, Critics’ Choice, Actor Awards, and Satellite Awards, and has become the most-watched original series in Paramount+ history.
