When Luis Guzmán sat down with his Wednesday castmates for a round of Hot Ones Versus, no one expected Jennifer Lopez to be the name that made the room gasp.
The 68-year-old actor joined Jenna Ortega, Emma Myers, Joy Sunday, and Georgie Farmer in the episode released Tuesday, August 26. During a game of word association, Myers pulled up photos of Guzmán’s famous co-stars and asked him to describe each one with a single word.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson got a nod. Adam Sandler — his frequent collaborator — was labeled “amazing.” But when Lopez’s photo appeared, Guzmán leaned back, shrugged, and simply said, “OK.” The one-word response set off laughter and shock from the table.
Lopez has often carried a ‘diva’ reputation in Hollywood, and Guzmán’s response only added more fuel to the chatter.
Guzmán and Lopez worked together in Steven Soderbergh’s 1998 film Out of Sight. The crime comedy starred George Clooney opposite Lopez as U.S. Marshal Karen Sisco, with Guzmán playing Jose “Chino” Chirino. The cast also included Don Cheadle, Ving Rhames, Steve Zahn, and Viola Davis.
Other names in the lineup brought out more enthusiasm. Guzmán highlighted his long history with Sandler, noting their appearances together in Punch-Drunk Love (2002), Anger Management (2003), Top Five (2014), The Do-Over (2016), Sandy Wexler (2017), and You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah (2023).
As the spotlight turned to his Wednesday family, Guzmán had nothing but praise. He described Catherine Zeta-Jones, who plays Morticia Addams, as “bellísima,” and called Ortega, the show’s title star, “a prodigy.” Ortega smiled and told him, “Aww, I love you,” before Guzmán mouthed the same words back.
On Netflix’s Wednesday, Guzmán plays Gomez Addams opposite Zeta-Jones and Ortega. The show’s second season premiered its first half on August 6, with part two arriving on September 3.
