Halle Berry turned a simple daytime TV question into one of the internet’s latest viral moments after misunderstanding something Jenna Bush Hager said during a live segment on Today With Jenna & Sheinelle.
Berry appeared on the May 28 episode alongside Bush Hager and co-host Sheinelle Jones for a rapid-fire game called “Pink Chair Questionnaire.” The conversation was moving normally until Bush Hager asked Berry to name her “biggest ick” — slang for a major turnoff. Berry, however, heard something entirely different.
The Oscar winner immediately burst into laughter, apparently thinking Bush Hager had asked about her “biggest d**k” instead. The misunderstanding instantly derailed the segment as the hosts and production crew cracked up on-air. Jones jokingly swatted Berry with her cue cards while Bush Hager tried to recover.
“I was like, ‘What?’ It sounded like that, didn’t it?” Berry said during the exchange.
Jones quickly shot back, “No! You are naughty!”
Still leaning into the joke, Berry answered the question she thought she heard by naming her fiancé, Van Hunt. Bush Hager then attempted to explain the confusion, only for the broadcast to partially censor her comments after Berry once again thought she repeated the explicit phrase.
“Ick! I said ick!” Bush Hager insisted before the show cut to a commercial through nonstop laughter.
The viral TV moment arrives during a particularly visible stretch for Berry, who has been making media appearances following the release of her 2026 film Crime 101, co-starring Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo.
In recent weeks, Berry has also been unusually open about both her relationship and personal life. She confirmed her engagement to Hunt after years of speculation surrounding whether the couple would ever marry.
“There’s some confusion that he asked me to marry him and I said no,” Berry said during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “That’s not the case. I did not say no… of course I said yes.”
Berry has also spoken candidly about intimacy and communication in relationships, recently saying she no longer fakes orgasms to protect a partner’s ego. During her Today appearance, that same conversation expanded into broader comments about women’s health, aging, menopause, and honesty in relationships.
“We’ve been afraid to say to our male partners, ‘That wasn’t so fun for me,’” Berry said. “The best relationships are relationships where people talk about it.”
