Fortnite’s next major crossover is officially out of the bag, and this one leans hard into animated chaos.
After circulating through the datamining community earlier this week, Epic Games has confirmed a full South Park collaboration to Vice.
The collaboration includes character skins, themed items, and a limited-time in-game event tied to Chapter 7, Season 1.
The crossover, titled Fortnite x South Park: Born in Chaos, brings several of the long-running Comedy Central series’ most recognizable characters into the battle royale—albeit with a Fortnite-friendly twist.
Rather than appearing in their standard cartoon proportions, the characters arrive encased in mech-style suits, a workaround that allows them to function properly within Fortnite’s gameplay without breaking hitbox balance.
The initial drop includes Stan, Kyle, Kenny, Eric Cartman, and Butters, with Butters specifically appearing as his Professor Chaos alter ego. Each of the main character skins is priced at 1,500 V-Bucks, while Towelie joins the lineup as a purchasable sidekick cosmetic for 1,200 V-Bucks. A bundled option is also expected to be available for players who want to purchase multiple items at once.
While Epic has been tight-lipped about story specifics, the newly released trailer and promotional assets hint at deeper fan-service moments baked into the event. Cartman’s mech design draws directly from his Awesom-O robot persona, and several gameplay additions reference iconic elements from the show’s history.
Among the rumored items are a Stick of Truth–inspired mythic weapon that interacts with the storm, Cheesy Poofs consumables that provide health and speed boosts, and a temporary transformation of the Wonkeeland point of interest into Cartmanland.
The collaboration officially launches Friday, January 9, with items expected to rotate into the Fortnite Item Shop during the standard daily reset at 7 p.m. ET. Players outside North America will see the content go live shortly after, depending on the region. The event is scheduled to run through February 5, giving fans several weeks to explore the crossover before it exits the game.
In addition to shop cosmetics, Epic is introducing a free “Born in Chaos” mini-pass alongside new playlists and event-specific challenges.
