Dorinda Medley is speaking out following the death of Robert Cosby Jr.

During a February 25 episode of SiriusXM’s Reality Checked, which she co-hosts with Kiki Monique, the Real Housewives alum reacted to the news of Cosby Jr.’s passing and its impact across the Bravo community.

Kiki described the moment as “some of the most heartbreaking news in Bravo world,” adding that many were “rooting for Robert” and “praying for Mary.”

Medley, visibly affected, addressed the complexity of addiction in stark terms. “I don’t even know how to speak on someone that has a person, especially a child, that is possessed… with a drug addiction,” she said. “That’s a mistress that you can’t fight with, right?”

She continued by acknowledging Mary Cosby’s public strength during her son’s struggles, referencing moments when Cosby said she felt some relief knowing he was in custody and not actively using.

Robert Cosby Jr., the 23-year-old son of Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Mary Cosby, was found dead on February 23 in Utah. Authorities responded to what was initially described as a “full arrest/medical emergency” involving a young adult male.

The situation was later treated as a death investigation.

While an official cause of death has not been confirmed, early reports indicate police were responding to a possible overdose. The medical examiner’s office is continuing its investigation.

Two days later, Mary Cosby publicly confirmed the loss in a statement, writing, “Our beloved son Robert Jr. has been called home to the Lord.”

She added, “Though our hearts ache, we take comfort in God’s promise and in knowing he is finally at peace. We are grateful for your prayers.”

Cosby Jr.’s death followed a series of legal and personal challenges that had unfolded over the past year. In December, he pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including assault and violations of a pretrial protective order tied to his estranged wife, Alexiana Smokoff.

Several additional charges were dismissed as part of a plea agreement, while one property damage-related charge was held in abeyance pending compliance with court conditions.

Earlier incidents outlined in court records included repeated violations of protective orders and multiple arrests stemming from domestic-related disputes between September and November of 2025.

At the time, his attorney, Clayton Simms, said Cosby Jr. had begun to “sober up and start thinking clearly” following time in custody and was working toward moving forward after the end of his marriage.

His struggles with substance use were also discussed on Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, where Mary Cosby spoke openly about her concerns and his efforts to seek help.

During a recent reunion, she said she believed he was in a place where he was no longer using, while acknowledging the difficulties he faced.

Robert Cosby Jr. was 23.
