After months of headlines focused on legal disputes and personal challenges, Britney Spears is drawing attention for something entirely different: a new hairstyle.
InStyle noted that the legendary pop star recently teamed up with celebrity hairstylist Chris Appleton, who unveiled Spears’ updated look in a social media post on June 1. Known for working with high-profile clients including Kim Kardashian, Nicole Kidman, Martha Stewart, and Drew Barrymore, Appleton shared a selfie with Spears showing off noticeably straighter hair than fans have seen from her in recent years.
For much of the past several years, Spears has favored loose waves and textured styling in her social media posts and public appearances. In Appleton’s photo, however, her blonde hair is sleek, straight, and parted to the side, marking one of the most significant changes to her look in years. Spears paired the style with an orange floral dress while posing alongside the stylist.
Appleton used the moment to reflect on Spears’ impact on pop culture and his own career. “As a kid growing up in England, Britney Spears was the soundtrack to so many moments,” he wrote. “Never in a million years did I think I’d one day be standing behind the chair … styling her hair.”
He also praised the singer personally, describing her as “one of the most genuinely kind and gentle souls” he has met.
The transformation arrives during a particularly eventful stretch for Spears. In recent months, the singer has been in the news for reasons unrelated to music or fashion. She recently threatened legal action against a former bodyguard who she alleges accessed her personal devices and iCloud account without authorization.
Spears also faced public scrutiny following her arrest on suspicion of DUI.
The new hairstyle also marks a notable shift from Spears’ last widely discussed hair experiment. In 2022, she briefly dyed her hair purple and joked to fans that she was simply bored and looking for a change.
