Bobbi Althoff is known for playing it straight in awkward interviews, but now, the podcaster delivered a much more personal kind of deadpan: a claim that she’s now dealing with partial facial paralysis after a cosmetic procedure went wrong.
In a TikTok posted earlier this month, Althoff told followers she received 100 units of Botox in an attempt to ease jaw pain—only to face a wave of unexpected side effects, according to People.
According to Althoff, things escalated almost immediately. She explained that she was unable to move parts of her face and couldn’t form a natural smile, telling viewers, “My eyes look like they’re frozen,” and calling her inability to emote “the worst f***ing part.”
She added that speaking and eating became painful, and she developed “the worst migraine” two mornings in a row. When she contacted her doctor about the reactions, Althoff said he dismissed her symptoms as “nothing” and assured her the effects would fade in 10 days.
In her caption, she pushed back on that assessment, writing, “My face is paralyzed, I can’t move it, and I could cry.”
Just nine days later, Althoff returned to TikTok with another update—this time about lip filler and chin filler she’d recently had done.
On November 18, the 28-year-old opened the video wearing a face mask as she explained why she returned for another appointment, despite previously saying she wanted to stop altering her face.
“I really wanted to do a touch-up,” she admitted, adding that she’d gone back two weeks after her last session.
Althoff also shared a more vulnerable moment before revealing the results. She said she regularly tells her daughters that they’re “so beautiful… just natural,” but struggles to extend that same kindness to herself.
“They look like I do with nothing, and I’m like, ‘Why don’t I find myself beautiful?’… I find myself so ugly,” she said.
Before pulling down the mask, Althoff warned viewers that the swelling was intense. She joked with her boyfriend off camera, asking if she looked “scary,” and immediately called him a liar when he said no.
When she finally showed her lips and chin, she reacted with a shocked, “Oh my God, I look crazy,” adding that she wished she could “go back to when I was, like, 4 years old.”
