Former Big Brother contestant Mickey Lee is currently hospitalized and listed in critical condition after experiencing what her family has described as a “series of cardiac arrests.”
Entertainment Weekly reports that Lee, who appeared on season 27 of the long-running CBS reality competition, was admitted to the ICU after suffering the attacks.
Details about the cause of the cardiac events have not been made public, but loved ones say she is receiving constant care and remains under close medical supervision.
“Today, we’re coming together with heavy hearts to ask for your support,” fundraiser organizer Kori Smith wrote on the GoFundMe page. “Mickey recently suffered a series of cardiac arrests and is now in the ICU in critical but stable condition. She has been surrounded by medical professionals and loved ones, but the road ahead will be long and challenging.”
The fundraiser explains that Lee and her family are facing mounting expenses related to hospitalization, intensive care, and recovery needs. Donations are being collected to help offset costs not fully covered by insurance, including specialized treatment, rehabilitation, and family travel and lodging while she remains hospitalized.
It is unclear what caused the cardiac arrests, and the family has not released further details about her hospitalization.
Lee is originally from Jacksonville, Florida, and currently lives in Atlanta. During her time on Big Brother, she described herself as an event curator and quickly became known among viewers and fellow houseguests for her bold personality and strong social presence.
Season 27 aired from July through late September and concluded with New York City attorney Ashley Hollis winning the $750,000 grand prize. Lee was evicted on day 59 of the competition, placing her near the middle of the season’s rankings.
As of this writing, the GoFundMe campaign has raised thousands of dollars toward its stated goal.
