Draya Michele just flipped the script—and this time, it’s happening in the kitchen.
The Basketball Wives alum revealed she’s been quietly attending culinary school for months, sharing a hands-on look at her training as she introduces what she calls her new “Culinaire” era.
The update came straight from Michele’s Instagram, where she posted clips of herself fully immersed in the process—working the line, prepping ingredients, and executing techniques like flambé.
While she didn’t specify where she’d been going to school, or what she’d ultimately hoped to accomplish with her newfound career, the Mint entrepreneur seemed excited about the future.
“For the past few months, I’ve been in culinary school,” she wrote. “Becoming a chef was never something on my mood board (until lately)… I’ve enjoyed cooking for my loved ones for years, and now I’m just perfecting it.” She doubled down on the mindset behind the move, adding: “You’re allowed to evolve. You’re allowed to pivot… If you’ve been waiting for a sign, this is it.”
Michele has been threading food content into her social posts for months, but without framing it as a larger shift. A pasta-making moment earlier this year, which included her daughter Lyght Green, hinted at growing confidence in the kitchen.
Before that, she shared clips experimenting with candied yams, paying close attention to cuts and plating.
As Michele leans into her culinary training, it also reframes a moment earlier in her public life that drew online criticism. Years ago, she faced backlash on social media after comments about her approach to cooking for her oldest son resurfaced.
Meanwhile, on the personal front, Michele continues to show up in Jalen Green’s orbit. Back in January, she was courtside with her kids—Jru Scandrick and Lyght—watching the Phoenix Suns take on the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Green was sidelined with a hamstring injury, but the outing still circulated online, with clips of Michele and her family drawing reactions across social media.
