Amazon MGM Studios has confirmed that Adria Arjona will co‑star opposite Michael B. Jordan in the upcoming reimagining of The Thomas Crown Affair.
According to Deadline, Arjona assumes the role after Taylor Russell exited the project last week due to creative differences, while principal photography was already underway in London.
The film follows an insurance investigator who grows suspicious that a banking executive is orchestrating a series of elaborate heists. The part mirrors the characters portrayed by Faye Dunaway in the 1968 original and Rene Russo in the 1999 remake. Jordan directs and headlines the new version as Thomas Crown.
Supporting cast members include Kenneth Branagh, Lily Gladstone, Danai Gurira, Pilou Asbæk, and Aiysha Hart. Jordan produces through his Outlier Society banner, alongside Elizabeth Raposo. Charles Roven produces for Atlas Entertainment. Patrick McCormick and Marc Toberoff are also listed as producers. The script was written by Drew Pearce, working from prior drafts by Wes Tooke and Justin Britt-Gibson. Alan Trustman, who wrote the screenplay for the 1968 film, serves as executive producer.
Amazon MGM Studios has scheduled The Thomas Crown Affair for theatrical release on 5 March 2027. Production continues on location in and around London.
Arjona joins the film after completing the studio’s thriller Blink Twice, directed by Zoë Kravitz, and after being cast in Amazon’s forthcoming series Criminal. Her recent screen credits include the Disney+ series Andor, Richard Linklater’s Hit Man, A24’s Onslaught, and the Spanish‑language feature Los Frikis.
The Thomas Crown Affair marks Jordan’s second feature directing effort and his first collaboration with Arjona.
Development on the remake dates back to 2016, when MGM acquired rights to mount a version with Jordan attached to star. In 2021, the project shifted to Amazon following the studio's merger with the company. The shoot is expected to span eight weeks across the United Kingdom and European locales.
