What began as an ordinary gym session in suburban Texas allegedly spiraled into chaos after a confrontation between two women turned physical inside a local 24 Hour Fitness.

According to Law & Crime, authorities in Harris County say the incident happened on January 7 at the Lake Plaza Drive location in Spring, a community north of Houston.

Deputies were dispatched to the gym after receiving an emergency call reporting an assault involving free weights, according to local law enforcement.

Investigators allege the situation unfolded when Aralyn Martinez, 24, spotted another woman she believed had been romantically involved with her partner. Rather than remaining a verbal dispute, the encounter escalated into a physical altercation on the gym floor.

Law enforcement officials say Martinez is accused of throwing a weighted plate toward the other woman’s head during the confrontation.

Charging documents specify that the object was a 25-pound weight plate, a piece of equipment commonly used in strength training. Authorities have not released details about the victim’s injuries.

Martinez was arrested the following day and booked into the Harris County Jail on a felony charge of aggravated assault. Court records show she was released after posting a $1,000 bond.

As part of her release conditions, the judge imposed several restrictions, citing concerns raised during the investigation. In a court order, the judge wrote that alcohol appeared to have played a role in the incident.

Martinez is now prohibited from consuming or possessing alcohol in any form, including products that may contain trace amounts. She is also barred from using marijuana.

The court further ordered that Martinez have no contact with the alleged victim and that she stay away from weapons. She is also not allowed to return to, or come within 200 feet of, the 24 Hour Fitness where the incident allegedly occurred.

The case is being handled in Harris County’s 488th Criminal Court, with Judge Matthew Peneguy presiding. Martinez is expected back in court for a hearing scheduled on January 22.
