Prolific voice actor Tom Kane, who acted in everything from various Star Wars projects to The Powerpuff Girls, has died at age 64.
As reported by TMZ, his representative, Zach McGinnis, confirmed that Kane passed away on Monday (May 18).
“Though his voice may now be silent, the characters, stories, and love he gave to the world will live on forever,” McGinnis said. “But beyond the incredible career was an extraordinary man. Tom was a devoted husband and father who, alongside his wife, built a loving family of nine children—three biological and six welcomed through adoption and fostering.”
A cause of death has not been publicly disclosed. He is survived by his wife, Cindy Roberts, and their nine children.
Born in 1962, Kane started his voice acting career in 1977 when he was just 15 years old. He announced his retirement from voice acting in 2021 after he suffered a stroke in 2020. He lent his voice to characters in countless projects, including various voices in The Powerpuff Girls (like Professor Utonium), Yoda and other characters in multiple animated Star Wars projects, and served as the announcer for four Academy Awards ceremonies.
Other credits from his extensive career include Ghost of Tsushima, Fortnite, countless Star Wars video games, multiple Call of Duty games, The Wild Thornberrys, Archer, The Boondocks, Kim Possible, Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends, The Angry Beavers, Cow and Chicken, Johnny Bravo, and the 2011 Smurfs movie.
RIP.
