Update 3/16/26 6:15 pm E.T: The Academy issued an apology to Teyana Taylor following reports that a security guard “shoved” her during the ceremony on Sunday.
“We were extremely upset to learn about the experience endured by Teyana Taylor at the end of the Oscars ceremony last night,” the statement reads. “We have worked with Teyana over the last several months during awards season, and she has been nothing short of remarkable, supportive, kind, and all about community. Though the incident was with our outside security firm SIS, the experience of every single guest is our responsibility. We have made it clear to them that this behavior is not acceptable. We want to thank Teyana for showing remarkable grace, and we are taking the appropriate measures to ensure this does not happen again.”
Variety also obtained a statement from the security company responsible, Security Industry Specialists, Inc, who told the publication, “There was a brief interaction involving Ms. Taylor and a member of our security team during the show last evening. Our security personnel were working to manage a crowded area and ensure the safety of all guests. During that interaction, there was incidental contact and we regret that the situation escalated. This is not the standard of professionalism we expect from our team, and we have addressed the matter internally to help ensure situations like this do not happen again.”

On the Oscars 2026 red carpet on Sunday (March 15), Teyana Taylor accused a security guard of shoving her.
The actress, who was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the Best Picture-winner One Battle After Another, appeared to get into a heated argument after a security guard allegedly put his hands on her. “You put your hands on a female,” she said in a clip of the moment, which can be seen below. “He literally shoved me. He was damn near shoving her!”
As reported by TMZ, sources who were at the show said that Taylor was trying to return to the stage with Warner Bros. co-head Pam Abdi when a security guard allegedly attempted to stop them both from going up the stairs. The sources added that the guard used his body to block the Oscar-nominated actress and put his hands on her to hold her back and push her away. The security guard also allegedly told Taylor to apologize for the moment.
In a brief interview with TMZ, Taylor downplayed the incident and explained what happened. “It’s all good… I don’t think anyone was trying to stop my shine,” she said. “Everybody’s having a good time, and security was just doing a lot. There’s always that one, but I’m fine. I’m happy. The first thing people do is make assumptions, but at the end of the day, I just don’t tolerate disrespect, especially when it is unwarranted, and it’s unprovoked.”
Taylor, who recently appeared in a Complex cover story, was nominated for her role as Perfidia Beverly Hills in One Battle After Another, which picked up a total of six wins at the awards ceremony on Sunday. She ultimately lost out to Amy Madigan’s role as Gladys in Weapons, which marked a rare Oscar win for a horror movie performance.
While she didn’t win at the Oscars, she did pick up the Golden Globe award for Best Supporting Actress — Motion Picture earlier this year. She also earned nominations at the SAG Actor Awards, the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards, and the BAFTA Awards.
At the Oscars on Sunday, One Battle After Another secured the awards for Best Picture, Best Director for Paul Thomas Anderson, and Best Casting. Her co-stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Benicio del Toro were also nominated for their performances, while her co-star Sean Penn, with whom she shares several memorable scenes, won Best Supporting Actor.
