Adult video stars Maitland Ward and Farrah Abraham are casting doubt onto OnlyFans creator Sophie Rain after she claimed to have earned $43 million in a year and still be a virgin.
"I heard about Sophie Rain months ago, and it was from my daughter Sophia, who happened to see her stuff on TikTok," Farrah Abraham told TMZ, implying that Rain has engaged in marketing tactics on social media to make herself appear more successful than she is.
"You're looking at a person who got TikTok famous ... You're seeing that she exploits the fact of virginity, if you will, for men to then go onto her platform and unlock some naughty virgin stuff, right?"
Abraham said that Rain's claims of millions in earnings and maintaining her virginity are marketing gimmicks.
"This is not factual," she continued. "What she can show to people to make it factual is a bank statement, how much do you pay your team."
Ward was also suspicious of Rain's claims.
"She's not even having sex. Is she showing her boobs? I don't even know, like, she's a virgin?" Ward said.
"Maybe she's really a little publicity diva," she continued with a laugh. "I think if somebody was making that much money in a year, you would have been hearing about it consistently. People would have been after her. Porn sites would have been after her. ... It just smells like a publicity stunt to get more subscribers."
Ward added that it takes a lot of time and effort to be successful on OnlyFans, and she's curious to see how the size of Rain's team compared to how much attention she's gotten seemingly out of nowhere.
"It's hard to keep stars in the industry because porn sites will make stars ... but then when they get popular, they go to OnlyFans and they just stay there because it's easier to make money," Ward said.
Last month, Rain started gaining traction on social media after she claimed she made over $43 million from OnlyFans in the past year. She later said she got over $4 million in tips from one of her fans who tipped her. The 20-year-old said despite her NSFW content, she's a devout Christian and a virgin.
