Bradley Cooper's directorial debut A Star Is Born might have debuted behind the Tom Hardy-starring Venom, but the music-based drama is already proving to have some serious legs. Deadline reports that the Lady Gaga-starring film has grossed over $100 million at the domestic box office in just 12 days, indicating that it could very well hold onto its No. 2 spot, knocking Venom down to No. 3 with the release of Halloween this weekend.

For the third day in a row, A Star Is Born has been outperforming Venom. Unlike the long in development Marvel film, A Star was met with positive reviews on release. Halloween is expected to debut at the No. 1 spot this weekend, with a projected $70 mil domestic gross. Venom has grossed $148.9 mil in its 12 days of release, compared to A Star's $101.4 mil.

Word of mouth will undoubtedly have a lasting effect on A Star Is Born, especially when considering how well the soundtrack for the film has done. As reported earlier this week, the movie's highly praised soundtrack raked in 231,000 equivalent album units during its first week, securing the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200.

It's safe to say that Lady Gaga's first starring role has been a success, performing remarkably well both critically and commercially. With buzz continuing to build, there's no telling just how much better the movie can do going forward.
