American Horror Story and X-Men actor Evan Peters has apologized after he retweeted a video that condoned and glorified violence against protesters. In the clip, which he has since removed from his Twitter page, someone can be heard laughing and applauding police officers beating a protester. The 33-year-old actor responded to the backlash over him retweeting the disturbing recording, saying he doesn't approve of the words the person featured in the clip used.

"I don't condone the guy watching the news at all in the video which I have deleted," Peters wrote. "I unknowingly retweeted it. I'm deeply upset it got on my newsfeed. I sincerely apologize if anyone was offended. I support black lives matter wholeheartedly."

The initial tweet came from user @RimHammer, who captioned the clip, "I can watch these piece of shit looters get tackled all day."

Before he posted his apology, Peters shared a black square to join in on Blackout Tuesday.

Despite the apology, many fans have called for Peters to put his money where his mouth is and donate to causes that help the Black Lives Matter movement. Others also called him out for claiming he retweeted the clip by accident.
