Margot Robbie is set to reprise her role as Harley Quinn in DC's Birds of Prey, which hits theaters on Feb. 7, 2020. Up until recently, however, plot details for the film have remained slim. After keeping fans in the dark, Warner Bros. finally shared the synopsis for Birds of Prey, which promises to be a story told from Harley Quinn's perspective.

"You ever hear the one about the cop, the songbird, the psycho and the mafia princess? Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is a twisted tale told by Harley herself, as only Harley can tell it," the synopsis revealed. "When Gotham’s most nefariously narcissistic villain, Roman Sionis, and his zealous right-hand, Zsasz, put a target on a young girl named Cass, the city is turned upside down looking for her. Harley, Huntress, Black Canary and Renee Montoya’s paths collide, and the unlikely foursome have no choice but to team up to take Roman down."

Robbie will be joined by the likes of Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Canary, Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya, Chris Messina as infamous Batman villain Victor Zsasz, and Ewan McGregor as Roman Sionis, aka Black Mask. The Cathy Yan-directed Birds of Prey, like Joker before it, has a comparatively small budget for a superhero film at something around $75 to $100 million. For comparison; Suicide Squad cost $175 million, while Spider-Man: Far From Home cost $160 million.

Warner Bros. shared the official trailer for Birds of Prey back in October, and it's been hinted by Robbie that it will, also like Joker, have an R-rating.
