Actress Chanel Maya Banks, who has appeared in Gossip Girl and Blue Bloods, has filed a restraining order against her family and cousin after they reported her missing last month.
TMZ reports that Banks filed the restraining order against her mother Lutchmin Judy Kumar and her cousin Danielle-Tori Singh on Thursday, Dec. 27, accusing them of harassing her. She claimed that the two have attempted to make unwanted contact with her ever since she expressed a desire to distance herself from them in October. They filed a missing persons report last month, which resulted in a wellness check.
Her husband, Carlos, repeatedly told her family that she was fine and did not want to speak with them. In the filing, she alleged that she had text messages from them both threatening to "weaponize the police." She also wrote that the two women broke into her apartment on Nov. 10 when she was on a trip out of town, attacked her husband, and put an Apple AirTag on her car so they could track where she was.
She claims that they accused her husband of murder and that Banks should be placed in psychiatric care. A source close to the family has denied the allegations and said no one attacked her husband. The source added that their family is happy she's safe, but they don't want to reestablish contact following her claims.
Shortly after she was reported missing by her family, Banks was found alive and well by the Los Angeles Police Department. She addressed the missing persons filing in a post on Instagram.
"I don't know who needs to hear this but, if you care so much get off [Instagram] stop harassing me and call the cops and ask them if I'm missing," she wrote. "Let them know your concerns. Ask them if not one but 2 different states police departments would accept an expire form of ID as proper verification for a 'missing person' case. Then notify them of the fact that my 'concerned family' has called these officers and their body cameras liars. Then if you're still confused, and think I'm missing congrats. You're a jackass."
She also alleged that she has suffered from years of "abuse, manipulation, and outright endless torment" from her "own so-called family." She said that she has since moved from Los Angeles to Texas.
