Despite a muted critical response, Disney's live-action Aladdin is looking to score a strong start over the Memorial Day weekend. Aladdin, which stars Mena Massoud, Naomi Scott, and Will Smith, is expected to bring in over $112 million over the four-day weekend. This means the Guy Ritchie-directed film is now Disney's second-best Memorial Weekend opening and the fifth-best overall.

As Deadlinereports, industry estimates had Aladdin pinned down for a $89.4 million opening over three days, while the entire four days is expected to push it past the $100 million mark. Disney's strongest opening over the holiday remains Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, which opened to $139.8 million in 2007.

John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum is still going strong at the No. 2 spot and will bring in $30.1 million over the holiday, while Avengers: Endgame's four-day total sits at $21.9 million. The R-rated superhero horror film Brightburn also opened the same day as Aladdin, but it's not off to a great start at around $9 million. The James Gunn-produced movie hasn't received the most enthusiastic critical response.

Meanwhile, Olivia Wilde's directorial debut Booksmart is headed for $7.8 million over the four days. The comedy has been getting a very strong response from critics, but it's got some work to do to make back its $10 million budget.
