Katt Williams Pauses Show, Cites Astroworld Tragedy After Audience Member Faints

Comedian Katt Williams put a stop to his set at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Kentucky, after realizing that a fan in the crowd passed out.

It’s been two days since the Astroworld Festival tragedy, which left at least eight people dead and hundreds injured following the Houston event. As one might expect, other performers have been deeply affected by the tragedy.

In a video shared by TMZ, comedian Katt Williams put a stop to his set at KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Kentucky, after realizing that a fan in the crowd passed out, while someone else in the audience screamed for him to “stop the show.”

And that’s exactly what he did, at least for a few minutes, as medics entered the building to help the person in need.

“I’m sorry if I won’t move on, but that shit that happened at—that Astroworld shit—I mean, we can’t never continue til’ we know somebody is motherfucking good,” Williams announced to his audience, referencing the event that still continued despite medics working to revive concert-goers. “I’m not goin’ to be leaving with that on my conscious.”

He continued, sharing that taking the time to make sure the person was OK was the “right decision” for him and his audience.

“I may be selfish, but if I fall out of my chair, ain’t nobody better not tell another joke til’ I get on the fucking stretcher and shit, bitch,” Williams said. “Don’t let me hear people laughing as I’m getting wheeled out. Come back from commercial break, everything’s gonna be OK… Thank you to the people that’s over there, especially the lady that told me not to keep going because it was dark over there. Thank you so much, I appreciate that.”

This weekend, Complex caught up with attendees of the 2021 Astroworld Fest to find out what the experience was like for them, as concert goers recalled seeing people in danger during Scott’s 50,000-person event at Houston’s NRG Park.

“I turned around and saw a girl with her eyes rolling in the back of her head,” an attendee going by the name of Arvomck said. “She seemed lifeless. Behind me, my brother was fighting to keep it together and began to panic as well. I felt myself starting to panic because I thought, ‘Yo, you might actually die here.’ I had to reassure myself that I’d be okay somehow and my brother helped me keep fighting back the rave.”
