Ever since we were kids, we've been taught play nice. "Sharing is caring" and other goody-two-shoes sayings were engraved in our brains. After all, if you didn't practice kindness, Santa wouldn't give you presents for Christmas. But despite the indoctrination—yes, we do realize kindness is essential to mankind, not just to avoid a lump of coal—no one ever taught us was what to do when doing good turns out pretty bad.
