Framed as “the greatest financial mystery of the 21st century,” the film dives into the unanswered questions surrounding Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto.

Finding Satoshi is out now, with its trailer—previously debuted as a Complex exclusive—highlighting the high-stakes investigation at the center of the documentary from Tucker Tooley Entertainment.

Framed as “the greatest financial mystery of the 21st century,” the film dives into the unanswered questions surrounding Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto.

The documentary follows journalist William D. Cohan and private investigator Tyler Maroney, who spent four years working to uncover Nakamoto’s true identity.

“Satoshi Nakamoto’s creation of Bitcoin and subsequent disappearance is one of the greatest financial mysteries of all time,” Tucker Tooley, who co-directed the film alongside Matthew Miele, in addition to serving as a producer. “This film delivers a definitive answer to the question: ‘Who created Bitcoin?’ From the beginning, we knew uncovering that mystery demanded a rigorous investigation built on real reporting and real evidence, which our team conducted over a four-year period.”
The documentary follows Cohan and Maroney as they interview key figures in crypto and tech, including Michael Saylor, Fred Ehrsam, and Joseph Lubin, with a brief appearance from Bill Gates in the trailer.
