Miley Cyrus Recalls Being Blamed for Dad Billy Ray’s Pot Smoking on ‘Hannah Montana’ Set

The father-and-daughter duo starred in the hit Disney Channel sitcom from 2006 to 2011.

Miley Cyrus has recalled the time she was wrongly accused of smoking weed on the set of Hannah Montana — when in fact, it was her father.

In the latest episode of the Sorry, We’re Cyrus podcast, Miley, along with mom Tish and sister Brandi Cyrus looked back at the hit Disney Channel sitcom that ran for four seasons from 2006 to 2011.

Near the one-hour mark in the video linked above, Tish asks Miley, “What’s a core memory from the Hannah Montana days that still makes you laugh?”

“Dad smoking pot and everyone blaming me for it,” Miley said without hesitation, making her mother laugh.

Miley starred in the show opposite her real-life father Billy Ray Cyrus on the series. But apparently the “Achy Breaky Heart” singer wasn’t the only person supposedly having a smoke between takes.

"They were calling me saying B-Ray was smoking pot, and I was saying, 'Absolutely not, he would never do that. It’s Mitchel Musso,'" Tish recalled, referring to the actor who co-starred in the series as Oliver, one of Miley’s best friends.

"Well, it was Mitchel. It was Mitchel Musso. It was both," said Miley.

In another recent interview on the Every Single Album podcast, Miley discussed how Disney allegedly prevented her from performing songs from Hannah Montana after the series ended.

"It’s not like I wanted to," she explained. “Performing ‘The Best of Both Worlds’ between ‘We Can’t Stop’ and ‘Wrecking Ball’ wouldn’t have really made sense … It was still sad knowing those songs have my voice, my face, and I wasn’t allowed to sing them."

However, the decision was reversed when Disney inducted her as the youngest-ever Disney Legend.

"After being inducted as a Disney Legend, I was given permission to perform those songs in the future, which is pretty cool," Miley admitted.
