Krypto’s Appearance in the ‘Superman’ Trailer Has Fans in a Frenzy

Fans are reacting to the newly released trailer for the 'Superman' reboot which sees Krypto coming to the Man of Steel's rescue.

Krypto the Superdog’s surprise appearance in the new Superman trailer has fans in their feelings and sharing memes online.

On Thursday, DC Entertainment shared the first teaser trailer for the Superman reboot film. In a poignant, yet scene-stealing moment, a bruised and bleeding Superman is seen lying in the snow before managing to blow out a whistle. Krypto hurries to his rescue as Superman asks, “Take me home.”

It didn’t take long for people to share their reactions to Krypto on X. Here are some of the best memes.

Director James Gunn revealed on his X account in October that Krypto was inspired by his own dog Ozu, whom he adopted during the film’s writing process. Gunn wrote that Ozu, who was rescued from a hoarding situation, was initially problematic and difficult to manage.

“He immediately came in & destroyed our home, our shoes, our furniture - he even ate my laptop. It took a long time before he would even let us touch him,” he wrote on X. “I remember thinking, ‘Gosh, how difficult would life be if Ozu had superpowers?’ - and thus Krypto came into the script & changed the shape of the story as Ozu was changing my life.”

“What better time to debut the not-so-good-good-boy Krypto than #AdoptAShelterDog month. Btw, Ozu today, is, fairly often, a very good boy,” he said at the time.

Superman, starring David Corenswet as Clark Kent, hits theaters July 11, 2025.
