Influencer Yarely Ashley Hermosillo has tragically died in a shooting.

The 27-year-old Arizona-based content creator, who was known for her cooking and lifestyle content, was fatally struck by a stray bullet on Friday (August 15).

Glendale police arrested 33-year-old Jesus Preciado Dousten on charges including second-degree murder in connection with her death, according to NBC-affiliate KPNX.

Police say Dousten, while arguing with another driver at a red light, pulled out a handgun and fired a shot at random. The bullet went through the passenger window of Hemosillo’s vehicle and struck her in the head. She was not part of the dispute.

Hermosillo’s boyfriend, who was driving, rushed her to the hospital, where she later died. Their young son and Hermosillo’s mother were in the backseat but were not injured.

Glendale Police Sergeant Brian Hoskins told CBS-affiliate KPHO that detectives used surveillance video from multiple cameras to identify Dousten as the truck’s owner. A search of a Glendale home turned up two handguns, and Dousten was arrested at his apartment.

He is being held on a $1 million bond on charges of second-degree murder, aggravated assault, misconduct involving weapons, and endangerment.

A GoFundMe was opened by Hermosillo’s family to raise money for her funeral costs.

In a statement shared to the fundraising page, Hermosillo’s family called the incident a “senseless act of violence," saying that the influencer was "an innocent victim caught in the middle of a road rage incident between others, leaving her family and friends devastated."

“Yarely was a loving wife, a devoted mother, and a beautiful soul whose light touched everyone who knew her,” they added. “She leaves behind her husband and their 4-year-old son, who now face an unimaginable loss. Yarely’s greatest joy in life was being a mother, and she poured her heart into caring for her little boy.”

Proceeds from the GoFundMe, which has as of this writing raised over $9,000 against its $12,000 goal, will also go to provide for the influencer’s young son.

“No amount can ever replace Yarely’s presence, but your kindness and generosity will help bring comfort and stability to her family as they navigate life without her,” read the statement.
