Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 is officially coming to Netflix this fall.
According to Kotaku, Netflix and CD PROJEKT RED revealed the release window at the Annecy animation festival in France, followed by a new teaser on the Cyberpunk 2077 YouTube channel.
The trailer offers a first look at the new season's tone with shootouts, cyberware glitches, and explosions set to "You Can't Run From Me," written by Maria Kelly and Drew Polovick and performed by Rico Nasty. Tsuneo Imahori, known for his work on Trigun, composed the original score.
NetflixAnime shared the announcement on Monday (June 28) via X, writing, "New crew. Same chaos. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, coming this fall, only on Netflix."
The 10-episode season tells a standalone story in Night City rather than continuing the first season's arc. Its official description, per the teaser on YouTube, calls it "a raw, gritty take on the world of the future — lawless and unforgiving."
The new story follows four main characters: Weak, a former edgerunner; D, a Snake Nation netrunner seeking revenge; Roman Carax, a cinephile documenting Night City's brutality; and Talia, who was shaped by corpo life and Maelstrom's violent culture.
An additional yet-to-be-revealed character is also teased on the official Cyberpunk website.
Hugo Award winner Bartosz Sztybor returns as showrunner and story writer, with Kai Ikarashi directing.
Following the original series' Anime of the Year win at the 2023 Anime Awards, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 will receive a major Anime Expo panel on Friday (July 3).
