Chris Redd has shut down speculation that his former Saturday Night Live co-star Kenan Thompson was involved in an attack that took place in 2022.
While speaking to TMZ in New York City on Wednesday (January 14), the 40-year-old was asked if he believed the attack, which occurred outside the Comedy Store in Manhattan's Greenwich Village, was a "targeted hit."
"I guess I didn't see it that way at the time when I was reporting this. But, no, Keenan did not hit me," he said around the 2:48 mark in the video linked below. "People took it like Keenan hit me. He didn't hit me. No."
He added: "I found out who did it. It is what it is, you know? That's it."
An NYPD source told TMZ that no arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
Redd and Thompson were close friends and castmates on SNL from 2017 to 2022 and also played brothers on the 2021 sitcom Kenan.
However, tensions arose after Redd and Thompson’s ex-wife, Christina Evangeline, formed a romantic bond while supporting him during a tough time marked by substance abuse.
In a video shared to his Instagram last week, Redd credited Evangeline with being "the only one to call me on my shit, help me with my shit."
"I can’t go back and forth with every mean message but the homewrecker narrative just isn’t true," he wrote in the comments section under the video. "Regardless of what you may feel about the situation, cheating was never the case. They weren’t together and had not been for years when we started. Not taking away anything I said but felt this needed some clarification."
