Taylor Swift Once Tried to Cut Retta in the Bathroom Line at Golden Globes

In a new interview, the 'Parks and Recreation' star also defends her friend Aziz Ansari.

Parks and Recreation actress, Good Girls star, and "Treat Yo Self" co-founder Retta is releasing a new memoir titled So Close to Being the Sh*t, Y’all Don’t Even Know. In it, she recounts some of the most hilarious moments of her career, including one incident where Taylor Swift tried to cut her in line at the Golden Globes in 2014.

In an interview with Vulture, Retta explained the encounter. During the Globes, the comedian's former co-star Jim O’Heir served her too much Moët & Chandon, resulting in an inevitable trip to the bathroom. Pop star Taylor Swift joined Retta in the long line shortly after. “We’re standing there forever in line, standing in line, moving up, moving up, and I was next. I was looking off to the left, and I see Taylor walk past. I yelled ‘Taylor!’ She turns around and was like, ‘Oh, were you next?’” Retta told Vulture. “I was like, ‘Was I? We was standing in this together for like 15 minutes. Bitch, you know I was next,’ and I walk past her and went to the bathroom.”

The juicy details of this hilarious encounter were included in Retta's forthcoming book, but not without stressing out some lawyers at the publishing house. “The lawyer was like okay, how can we work this because [Swift] may be like, ‘That never fucking happened.’ It did because I told the story the minute I came out of the bathroom, and I’ve been telling it ever since. It was pretty fucking funny to me,” Retta said. “I was thinking I’ll be in her songs next.”

In her interview with Vulture, Retta also touched on her relationship with former co-star Aziz Ansari in the wake of the babe.net scandal and sexual misconduct allegation. “I read it, and I was like, ‘It’s not the same as what’s been going down.’ And someone had done some video and it had a bunch of the men that were in this hot water for this, and they had Aziz in the list. I was really pissed about it,” Retta said. “I just felt bad, and I texted him to check on him to be like, ‘Are you okay?’ And he’s like, ‘I’m okay.’ But I know he feels really bad about it.”
