Pokèmon continues its reign as the most successful franchise...ever. Now after more than 20 years of its existence as trading cards, movies, television series, and handheld video games, it's bringing the pocket monsters to the Nintendo Switch.
Confirming earlier rumors, Pokémon: Let’s Go comes in two versions: Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee!
Old and new fans of the franchise have been waiting for it to make its debut on Nintendo’s home console, and now it’s here with its own optional controller shaped like a Poké Ball.
The new games draw on old and new influences. They are enhanced versions of the 1998 video game Pokémon Yellow and integrate features of Pokémon Go. The creatures are captured in the same way as in Go, by flicking the joystick or Pokè Ball at the monster you want. Per Hypebeast, the new games takes players to “the nostalgic Kanto region from Red/Blue, but this time in a fully realized capacity from its monochrome days and even its colorful Game Boy Advance remakes FireRed and LeafGreen.”
Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee! also support cooperative multiplayer. The two new games come out Nov. 16, 2018.
