Jason Momoa is set to write, executive produce, and star in a drama series that will take place during “the epic and unprecedented telling of the unification and colonization of Hawaii from an indigenous point of view,” according to Deadline. The 42-year-old actor was born in Honolulu, Hawaii.

The limited series, which has received an eight-episode order from Apple TV+, is titled Chief of War and will be the first time that Momoa has written for television. Other executive producers include Thomas Pa’a Sibbett, Francis Lawrence, Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, Erik Holmberg, and Doug Jung. Holmberg and Jung will be showrunners on the series. Pa’a Sibbettwill also write alongside Momoa. Endeavor Content and Chernin Entertainment are producing.

It’s not the first time that Momoa has linked with Apple. The Aquaman star is also working with the streamer on See, which was renewed for a third season last year. The science fiction drama also stars Alfre Woodard, Sylvia Hoeks, Hera Hilmar, and Christian Camargo. Fans will be able to catch Momoa in the upcoming movie The Last Manhunt, which the actor also wrote with Pa’a Sibbett. Another movie that Momoa has in the pipeline is Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. The DC film is scheduled to hit theaters next year on March 17, 2023. But that’s not all that Momoa has coming up. He’s also joined the cast of Fast & Furious 10.
