The Transformers series is already on its fifth iteration, and the early domestic box-office numbers for this version—Transformers: The Last Knight—will be disheartening for Michael Bay and company. Prerelease tracking had predicted this film would post a five-day domestic debut in the $70-75 million range, but it might not even clear $60 million, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The last Transformers film, Transformers: Age of Extinction, netted $100 million over a three-day launch.

Transformers: The Last Knight brought in $8.1 million Thursday, making its two-day total $23.8 million. That’s the slowest start for any movie in the franchise.

Transformers is banking on international success. It opened with $48 million in overseas sales Friday. According to the Reporter, that’s the third-best start of all-time for any foreign title. Apparently people in other countries really love Transformers.

Transformers: Age of Extinction eventually topped $1 billion at the worldwide box office.
