Last week,KRS-One spoke about Phife Dawg's legacy during a special memorial event at the Apollo Theater in New York City. The touching moment was one of many, as Kanye West, André 3000, D'Angelo, and many more members of the music community spoke about Phife's legacy and what he meant to their lives. Now, KRS-One is taking things to the next level, as he just released his song, "Phife Tribute," in honor of the A Tribe Called Quest legend.
On the DJ Static-produced track, KRS flips Phife's opening lines from "Scenario" before eventually calling for all of hip-hop to come with tributes as he did. "I want to hear real 16's from everybody," KRS said on the track. We'll have to wait and see if the rest of the rap game follows KRS-One's lead, but it's clear that he set the right tone with this tribute, which you can listen below.
